The 18th segment of main bridge as part of Suramadu Bridge, also known as the Surabaya-Madura Bridge is finally connected on April 1, 2009. Suramadu bridge with three cable-stayed sections will connect Surabaya on the island of Java and the town of Bangkalan on the island of Madura in Indonesia. The bridge will be the first to cross the Madura Strait.

The bridge will have two lanes in each direction plus an emergency lane and a dedicated lane for motorcycles. When scheduled to be completed on June 2009, the 5.4-kilometer bridge will be the first land link between the two islands and the longest bridge in Indonesia. The cable-stayed portion will have three spans with lengths 192 m, 434 m and 192 m. The total cost of the project, including connecting roads, has been estimated at 4.5 trillion rupiah (US$390 million).
The remaining works which is targated to be completed on June 2009 are :
- Approach bridge in between causeway and main bridge of Surabaya side
- Connecting road of Madura side.

CAUSEWAY
Upper Structure PCI Girder 36 spans of Surabaya side, 45 spans of Madura side with @ 45 m length.

Foundation : Steel Pipe D. 60 cm with average length 25 m of Surabaya side and 27 m of Madura side.
